£50 iPad 3 At Tesco£50.00 for the new iPad 3? Sounds too good to be true. And it is. Tesco have confirmed that the iPad, which had been priced online at £49.99, will not be honoured.

According to the company a “computer glitch” saw the iPad 3, which isn’t released until March 17th, go for sale at more than 10 times less than it should have been.

Whilst no figures have been provided for how many people tried to by the device at the discounted price, they have stated that no money will be withdrawn from customers who have ordered it.

A Tesco spokesman said: “We like to offer our customers unbeatable value, but unfortunately this is an IT error that is currently being corrected.”

News rapidly spread over Facebook and Twitter but the amazing offer was widely predicted as too good to be true. And they were right.

Tesco Direct’s terms and conditions state: “If, by mistake, we have under priced an item, we will not be liable to supply that item to you at the stated price, provided that we notify you before we despatch the item to you. In those circumstances, we will notify the correct price to you so you can decide whether or not you wish to order the item at that price.”
