DON’T YOU just love the eco-friendly buzz that has become an integral part of society? You know, insuring you only buy gadgets made of sustainable properties, clothes that aren’t fashioned by a 2-year-old amputee in Outer Mongolia, refill bags of coffee instead of a new jar, and all that other lark. Well now you too can have ethically friendly sex. Yes that’s right, Waitrose are now selling Fairtrade condoms.
These considerate sheaths will go on sale from April 4th and be part of the stores fair trade range, and they only cost £6.99 for a pack of 12. Waitrose buyer Siobhan Bowie said: ‘We have come a long way since the days of people thinking fair trade is just about bananas and coffee, so it makes perfect sense to start introducing customers to more innovative and fairly traded products.
We are proud that our customers can now practice safe sex and support a good cause at the same time.’ And what is it that makes these johnnies so special? The condoms are made with rubber farmed in southern India and distributed by FairSquared, a small ethical supplier based in Newcastle. Whoopteedo get your freak on, eco-style!
