Martin Johnson QuitsMartin Johnson has resigned as manager of the England team having been under pressure since England’s less than successful World Cup campaign this summer.

Upon appointing Johnson as manager in 2008, then RFU chairman Martyn Thomas, said that Johnson was recruited to ‘instil a discipline and direction in the squad’; instead, his time in charge was tainted by poor performances and the, let’s say, dickish behaviour of some members of his squad.

Sadly, for Johnson, a Six Nations win was his only trophy, and his reign will probably be best remembered for the 2011 World Cup campaign – with the words abysmal, drunk, and dwarf-throwing likely popping up.

Still, his team did thrash Australia at Twickenham – which was nice.
