And this is why we don’t shop at Tesco…
Picture the scene, a man settles down to dinner with his family, and just as his partner is about to praise his culinary efforts, she is confronted by a dead bird on the end of her fork.
Paul Streeter from Weare, Somerset, had bought the baby leaf salad from the Burnham-on-Sea branch of tesco earlier that day. “I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was horrific. She was seconds away from eating it.”
Apparently the bird was decomposed and skeletal. And we thought Halloween was a couple of weeks ago.
Mr Streeter had apparently emptied the salad into a bowl and as his girlfriend ladled the salad onto her plate she was confronted by the bird carcass.
He emptied the salad into a bowl and presented it to his family at the dinner table before returning to the kitchen. “She had ladled the salad onto her plate and thought she was cutting into one of the dark leaves and what she found was a dead bird.” He commented, adding, “I didn’t know what to think. I was concerned about the health of my family as they had eaten some of the salad.”
A Tesco spokesperson said, “We take matters of this kind extremely seriously and are very disappointed to learn of this incident. Ensuring our food is of the highest quality is extremely important to us and we and our suppliers have robust systems in place to prevent foreign objects getting into products.” …Clearly.
