Over the years, BBM has done our fair share of stories about old people who were pronounced dead at the hospital in Nairobi or Bogota or some other third-world country – only for them to come springing to life again at the funeral. Frankly it’s made us a little jaded of the whole idea of death.
But even we were impressed by the tale of Miguel Angel Gomar De Luna, whose grieving family were shocked to find he was still alive – after being cremated. Now that’s impressive.
Turns out it was all a case of mistaken identity, with a badly decomposed corpse being wrongly identified by a family member – when in fact the 74-year-old had simply fled his nursing home and gone on a massive alcohol-fuelled bender. To be fair, if we’d been pronounced dead we’d want a drink too.
