GREASY fast food joints received a substantial blow to their bloated hearts last week when it was decided the likes of McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken would have to display the calorie content of their food on menus.

Premier John Brumby described the incidence of diabetes and obesity as “a runaway train”.

“The reason we are doing this is because we have a runaway epidemic in Victoria, right across Australia, particularly with diabetes,” Brumby said.

“This is a runaway train and we need to drag it back – the best way is by healthier eating and giving consumers information about their eating choices.”
