A warning to any blokes out there thinking of divorcing their wife. Check your house for hidden rooms and secret cupboards first.
Daniel Shak claims he failed to do these basic checks after splitting from his missus, Beth, and now says she had a shoe collection worth $1m stashed away in a secret room while they shared an apartment in wealthy Fifth Avenue, New York.
As a result, he reckons he got a fraction of what he was owed in the divorce settlement.
Daniel’s lawsuit claims: “Dan trusted his wife and was not inspecting his home to try to find inventory or secret rooms.”
But Beth responded: “I’m shaking my head over this whole thing. He is saying he didn’t know the closet in our master bedroom existed.
