Up-market French fashion chain La Redoute has landed itself in deep merde after unwittingly publishing a picture of a naked man on their website.
Users of La Redoute’s website were quick to complain when they discovered the man in the background of a shot of children modeling the fashion chain’s clothing. Ooops.
In typical saccharine La Redoute style, the immaculate children in the foreground are pictured holding hands and running along carefree on an idyllic beach. However no one seemed to notice the man with his tackle out lurking behind the kids when they posted the pic.
French housewives were soon up in arms: “SCANDALE!” one user wrote, as another noted that with the children on the beach, the nudity was “un deuxième Fail pour la Redoute,” loosely translating to “FAIL!”
La Redoute have since issued an apology for the image on their website, and replaced the nude man with a photo-shopped happy couple. But that hasn’t stopped the pic going viral, with some web users claiming to have spotted the naked man elsewhere…
