OVERBLOWN. Cocaine-fuelled. Brilliant to start with but sad and depressing to watch at the end.
Yes there are many parallels between Oasis and Maradona, and now Argentine World Cup star Lionel Messi, has added another one after revealing the Gallagher brothers are his other inspiration for this year’s tournament. No really.
Messi, the world’s second best footballer – behind Emile Heskey – has become a massive Oasis fan and listens to them all the time in his hotel room in South Africa.
Apparently, Man City man-hulk Carlos Tevez is behind the sudden random fandom.
“On the plane on the way to the World Cup Carlitos made me listen to their first two albums. I have to say I wasn’t expecting much but it is some of the best material I have ever heard. They are absolutely amazing,” said Messi.
“Their songs are incredible. I would have to say Supersonic and Live Forever are my favourites. I have been listening to their stuff on my iPod dock in the hotel room, on the way to the matches and in the dressing room.”
So if Argentina are the Oasis of football, does that mean England have been listening to pop knobjockeys Scouting For Girls?
