Jennifer Saunders has stated that she is “definitely doing” an Absolutely Fabulous movie in the near future. Following in the footsteps of ‘The Inbetweeners’ our ‘sweetie darling’s’ big screen adventure is currently being worked on. Let’s hope it’s a tad funnier than the newest shows on BBC.
The 53 year old comedienne confirmed to New York magazine, “Yes, I’m definitely going to do it. I’m aiming to shoot this in a beautiful part of the Riviera. I fancy the south of France in the spring.” Let’s hope they get some time to pop to Cannes for some designer goodies.
This year will see Ab-Fab turn 20 years old, with three specials on the BBC, the film would be a perfect way to round off their anniversary. Whilst making us at BBM feel extremely old, remembering watching it in the late 90s as we do.
Ab Fab’s comeback was prompted after Saunders’ co-star Joanna Lumley told reporters that a new series was in the works. “[Jennifer] said, ‘Darling I told them in New York that you’re going to do a few more.’ So I said, ‘Oh, well, got to tell the BBC.”
A new movie will follow their previous feature length episodes ‘The Last Shout’ and most recently ‘Gay’ with Whoopi Goldberg. With a new episode premiering around the time of the Olympics, it’s surely going to be an Absolutely Fabulous year. Now where’s the Bolly, daaarling.
