WATCH: JIMI THE KWEEN – STARLIGHT FEAT. ZOË BADWI
Fresh from taking over the USA during Pride Month with performances alongside Paris Hilton and Kesha, today Jimi The Kween returns with a dazzling new single, ‘Starlight’. This latest track is a cover of the seminal 2001 hit single by The Supermen Lovers of the same name and features the acclaimed Australian singer Zoë Badwi, renowned for her hits ‘Release Me’ and platinum-certified ‘Freefallin’’. This remake follows the release of Jimi’s anthemic banger ‘Don’t Touch The Hair’ and promises a stellar musical experience that will ignite dance floors worldwide.
The fusion of Jimi The Kween’s dynamic energy and Zoë Badwi’s powerhouse vocals, alongside the addition of an indulgent dance production, captures the essence of nightlife glamour and the euphoric energy of the club scene.
Jimi says, “this track has been in the making for a couple of years – I always wanted to rework this song, it’s one of my favs and I’ve had the demo sitting around for ages. Having Zoë join me on the track is really what made it perfect, two Kweens are better than one! This track is fully stacked and I am sure Australia and beyond will live for it as much as I do! Did somebody say Australia’s newest pop star!?” Zoë adds to the excitement, sharing “I’ve known Jimi for years and it was so much fun to get into the studio to make this track together. I can’t wait for everyone to hear, see and dance to what we’ve done!”
Co-directed by Jimi The Kween and Ryan Sauer (Peking Duk, Illy) the promo video for ‘Starlight‘ is an ode to the height of Y2K music video excellence inspired by Jimi’s own experience of moving to Melbourne. Expect fierce pleated skirts, dazzling star queen couture, plus Melbourne’s very own Drag community. Jimi The Kween and Zoë Badwi come together for a celebratory club-pop anthem.

WATERMELON BOY’S NEW ALBUM ‘THE WOW SIGNAL’ SHOWCASES GLOBAL TALENT AND ECLECTIC RHYTHMS
Melbourne’s Watermelon Boy has a unique approach to making music, blending the sounds of the global south with his Australian electronic pedigree. First launching in 2016, his visceral electronica combines complex rhythms, tuned percussion, fuzzy synths and gliding atmospheric tones, in a way that tugs at the heartstrings. Launching in 2016 with a proof of concept 3 track EP, Watermelon Boy experimented with a combination of Latin American style beats and Australian Future Bass. Speaking of the lead track from the debut EP, triple j’s Nat Tencic claimed “Whatever this juicy, mystical space land is, I want to go there!”.
Continuing to evolve, the next phase of Watermelon Boy’s music would involve extensive collaboration with his 2021 debut album (101 Tropical Hits from Cosmic Space) featuring 10 artists from tropics and all over the world. Speaking of the album, Rolling Stone wrote; “101 Tropical Hits from Cosmic Space manages to live up to its ostentatious title” and Beat declared “Awash with tropical, outer space, summertime textures, the album is a delightful sonic journey, taking you from chilled sunbathing pop tunes to a sweaty carnival rave.”
Today, Watermelon Boy releases his follow-up album ‘The Wow Signal’. Musicians from Ghana, Fiji, Chile, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, India and Jamaica provide exhilarating performances and rich textures on this collection of feel good jams. More tonally cohesive yet no less vast than the debut. An impressive run of singles has led up to the new album and already created much hype. The feel good club track ‘Memories’ is currently pumping dancefloors and beach clubs with its blend of Tropical House and Amapiano. The Karate themed Dancehall collaboration ‘Break That Board’ has impressed with its twerky rhythm and powerful features. The gentle but ecstatic ‘Cagi Mudre Vou’ transports with its sweet Fijian vocals and uptempo snappy beat. However, it’s the unreleased tracks that really show the scope of Watermelon Boy’s style. From groovy tropical chill to PA thumping moments, ‘The Wow Signal’ will help cement Watermelon Boy as one of Australia’s most exciting producers.

MAGDALENA BAY UNVEILS NEW TRACK ‘TUNNEL VISION’
SOPHOMORE ALBUM IMAGINAL DISK OUT AUGUST 23 VIA MOM+POP MUSIC
BUY/STREAM: MAGDALENA BAY – TUNNEL VISION
PRE-SAVE: MAGDALENA BAY – IMAGINAL DISK LP
July 31, 2024—Acclaimed duo Magdalena Bay debuts a new track today, “Tunnel Vision”—listen HERE. The new song—written, composed and produced by the band—is the latest offering from Imaginal Disk, their sophomore album out August 23 via Mom+Pop Music—pre-save/pre-order it HERE.
Of the song, Magdalena Bay declare: “artificial intelligence won’t approximate humanity until it learns how to hate itself”
“Tunnel Vision” follows previous album offerings “Image,” which Rolling Stone praised as a “ a spaced-out dancefloor delight,” and “Death & Romance,” which Vulture praised as “kaleidoscopic,” while PAPER commended the duo for another “glassy, sprawling prog-pop odyssey that builds from a tightly wound jam into something seemingly designed to hit the back walls of stadiums.”
Both “Image” and “Death & Romance” provided a glimpse into the universe Magdalena Bay has created to accompany this album, which follows the story of True—played by the band’s Mica Tenenbaum—as she learns what it means to be human after receiving a consciousness upgrade in the form of an “imaginal disk” inserted into her forehead.
Additionally, the band will hit the road for The Imaginal Mystery Tour this fall, an extensive run of North American headline shows with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and more—see full tour routing below and get tickets HERE.
Aside from last year’s EP, mini mix vol. 3, Imaginal Disk marks Magdalena’s Bay first full-length project since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Mercurial World, in 2021. Vulture praised the album as “one of 2021’s best pop statements,” while Pitchfork celebrated the duo’s “magic power” of sounding “like whatever you grew up with, whenever that was,” and PopMatters commended the album for “providing a blueprint for a new generation of electronic pop.”
Magdalena Bay is the Los Angeles by way of Miami duo consisting of Mica Tenenbaum (vocals, producer, songwriter) and Matthew Lewin (producer, songwriter). The two first met at an after-school music program in Miami where they grew up, bonding over shared musical influences and eventually starting a prog rock band Tabula Rasa. That band broke up, but when Tenenbaum and Lewin crossed paths again in college, they reconnected with the goal of making something closer to pop music that blends retro and futuristic elements under the moniker Magdalena Bay. They released a series of EPs leading up to their critically acclaimed debut album Mercurial World in 2021 and went on to sell out their first headlining tour, play numerous festivals around the world— including Coachella in 2023, tour with Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek, Flume and collaborate with Lil Yachty, JIHYO, Blu DeTiger and more.

INTRODUCING NO INSTRUCTION:
THE NEW IMPRINT AND CLUB BRAND FROM LUUDE AND FRIENDS
LUUDE TEAMS UP WITH HARRY BEE FOR THE DEBUT RELEASE
‘FUN IN THE SUN’
BUY/STREAM HERE
Australian breakout drum and bass producer Luude today announces the launch of his new imprint No Instruction in partnership with his long standing management company Cloak, distributed by Virgin Music. The new imprint is about creating legitimate moments for artists using the live platform and global network of the team. Luude shares “we want to throw good parties, put out records we like from people we like and we want to have a good crack at doing all those things as best and big as possible.”
To mark the debut, No Instruction presents its first release, ‘Fun In The Sun,’ by Luude & Perth based producer Harry Bee. The left field club heater has quickly become one of Luude’s most requested songs of the year, with videos of the record posted across ID pages amassing over 3 million views and generating widespread anticipation. The track perfectly encapsulates the essence of No Instruction, it’s a bit weird and made for the dance floor.
Sharing his excitement about the release and the launch of the label, Luude shares “I’m really happy to be launching this imprint with a collab featuring one of my best mates from Australia – having an outlet to do things like this is sick. We’ve got some mental records coming from some of my favourite producers, some parties around the world, we’re doing vinyl and just going back to doing things for the club, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
Cloak, the management team behind No Instruction, emphasises the label’s mission to embrace creativity and innovation, “people told us this was a stupid idea, launching a new imprint by releasing a collab with one of Luude’s mates from back home – with some pretty high-profile collaborations that could have been first. But being able to do things like this is what this label is about. The fact that it’s been one of the most requested tunes of the year for Luude is testament to the fact that buzzing records can come from anywhere.”
In addition to its innovative approach to music, No Instruction will launch with a series of underground parties across the UK, Europe and Australia throughout 2024. The inaugural event, a secret pop up party at a very coveted London location, will kick off on July 31st, featuring performances by Luude, Bushbaby, Efan, Willo and Denham Audio.
Australian producer Luude has firmly established himself on the global stage with back-to-back hits like ‘Down Under’ and ‘Big City Life,’ which have sold millions of copies and earned multi-platinum certifications worldwide. His achievements include an ARIA award for Best Dance Release, a nomination for the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award, “Best International Artist” at the 2022 Drum and Bass Awards, 3x BBC Radio 1 Hottest Records, and multiple platinum, gold, and silver certifications. Luude’s relentless touring and dynamic performances, including his recent sold out run with Chase & Status across Australia and New Zealand, have cemented his status as one of Australia’s most in-demand artists.
Luude & Harry Bee’s new single ‘Fun In The Sun’ is out now on No Instruction. Follow No Instruction across socials for info on all upcoming shows and releases.

Australian sensation CYRIL teams up with singer-songwriter Dean Lewis for their new single “Fall At Your Feet,” a dance-pop gem that serves as a follow-up to CYRIL’s 2023 breakthrough hit “Stumblin’ In” and his official remix for Disturbed’s “The Sound Of Silence” from February this year; both have just surpassed combined 400M streams on Spotify alone with “Stumblin’ In” entering Global Top 50 on the platform just recently and collecting a steady number of 2M streams daily.

GLORILLA DOUBLES DOWN ON DAMIAN LILLARD AFTER SHADY POST FROM HIS ESTRANGED WIFE
GloRilla has reiterated her interest in NBA All-Star Damian Lillard after his estranged wife offered up a shady post of her own.
Glo was spotted on Saturday (April 20) rocking a yellow and red custom jersey that shared the Milwaukee Bucks player’s number zero, with the name listed as: “GLOLILLARD.”
After the Memphis rapper was arrested for a DUI, Lillard’s wife, Kay’La, reposted the mug shot on her own Instagram Stories. She captioned it: “Free GloLillard [crying laughter emoji]. #sisterwife [shrugging emoji].”
The “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” MC’s recent arrest was an embarrassing one as footage of the incident showed her suffering a nip slip and admitting to having “pee on [her] hand.”
In bodycam footage obtained by TMZ, the Memphis rapper could be seen being detained by police in Gwinnett County, Georgia on suspicion of driving under the influence and other charges.
Wearing a string bikini top, GloRilla accidentally exposed herself while being questioned before a female officer covered her up, to which the rapper said, “Thanks.” Her breast was exposed for around a minute before the officer pulled her jacket across her chest.
Glo has been lusting after the sharp shooter for quite some time.
Last month, she finally received a response from Dame Dolla after shooting her shot at the star during February’s All-Star Game.
During a chat with TMZ, the Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard was quizzed about Big Glo, who confessed to crushing on Lillard.
When asked if he’d seen the rapper’s public plea for his attention, Dame replied with a laugh: “Shout out to GloRilla, man.”
He was then asked if he’d spoken to or reached out to the “Tomorrow 2” hitmaker, to which he brushed off the inquiry by saying: “No comment, my brother.”
Dame’s comments did not go unseen by GloRilla, who seemingly issued a response of her own on X, writing: “Ok coo [grinning face with sweat emoji] [smiling face with sunglasses emoji].”
GloRilla was in attendance at the NBA All-Star Game in Indiana where Damian Lillard was named MVP and later grabbed a picture with the 33-year-old.
Glo admitted to having the hots for Lillard while posting a snapshot of them together on social media, writing: “Who n-gga dis is ? Cause I want him #GetEmGlo.”
She added: “Whoever she is can’t whoop me so I really dgaf.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs accused of sexually assaulting ‘The Love Album’ producer in new lawsuit
A music producer who worked with Sean “Diddy” Combs on his most recent record, “The Love Album: Off the Grid,” is suing the embattled music mogul, accusing him of “engaging in serious illegal activity” including sexual assault.
In a lawsuit filed in U.S. federal court for the southern district of New York and obtained by USA TODAY on Monday, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr. alleges Combs “forcibly touched and attempted and/or threatened to touch (Jones’) intimate areas and/or touched (Jones) with his own intimate body parts” while they worked on the album. He also accuses the rapper and his associates – including his 30-year-old son, Justin Dior Combs, his chief of staff and Combs Global Enterprises – of participating in “a sex-trafficking venture.” article from USA Today
According to Jones, he and Combs worked together between September 2022 and November 2023, a partnership that resulted in nine songs on “The Love Album” for which Jones is credited as a producer. Jones also alleges he was not paid for “13 months (and) thousands of hours of work.”
Combs, his son Justin, Universal Music Group, Motown Records and Love Records are among the other defendants listed in the lawsuit. Jones is seeking $30 million in compensation and a jury trial.
Beyonce Country Controversy
Beyonce has become the first black woman to top Billboards Hot Country songs chart, after her track Texas Hold ‘Em.
many people upset by Beyonce playing “Country themed Pop”
Now for some reason many people have been associating country music as a “white music genre” witch is causing heaps of backlash on Beys new hit song with people even saying “she can’t have everything”(black artist going into country has always been made difficult even though it has never been a race exclusive “black folk have always made country music”). Now personally I believe this to be totally wrong, Texas Hold ‘Em is very much a country song sang by Beyonce who happens to be from Huston Texas, so pretty sure she knows what shes is singing about.
Its sometimes sad that people can’t just enjoy good music without finding some background issue now days.
DRAKE’S OVO SOUND PARTNERS WITH SONY MUSIC’S SANTA ANNA
Santa Anna, a JV between Sony Music Entertainment and Todd Moscowitz, has announced “an investment and partnership with” Drake’s independent record label OVO Sound.
According to the announcement on Tuesday (January 23), through the partnership, Santa Anna Label Group and its partners will provide OVO Sound with additional A&R support, production, finance and accounting, marketing and promotion, as well as artist and label services “to grow OVO Sound’s business and attract, retain and promote top Canadian and international artists”.
OVO’s current artists include PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, Naomi Sharon, Roy Woods, Smiley, and Popcaan, in addition to numerous Drake collaborations with artists such as Bad Bunny (Rimas), Central Cee, Blocboy JB, and Dave, in addition to the creation of the Top Boy soundtrack.
UK’s party crowd switch to warehouse and home parties
Smaller clubs are losing out to mega raves, private events and even live streams, say music industry insiders.
The pandemic also changed peoples habits, and there is now a large group of young people who would rather stay in. “Instead of having club experiences, it was online, and people got used to live streaming at home,” says Paul Rose, DJ and host of the Not A Diving Podcast.
Many people feel drinks are far too expensive in establishments now; “they have pushed people beyond their limits in trying to have punters pay extortionate energy bills.
Even a six-pack from Tescos is creeping up to the prices pints were immediately before the pandemic.
Just vape weed instead now; it is cheaper, more chill, and you don’t end up in a gutter near a taxi rank with half-eaten kabab wrap. The entire nighttime economy is in a state of perpetual collapse.”-Top_To_Back, reddit.
There isn’t enough draw for clubs these days. The club scene is dead for a reason.
Music is hit and misses, emphasis on miss; drinks are far too expensive, venues are crumbling garbage piles with sticky floors and nowhere to socialize; the “third place” aspect of it is, as far as I can tell, non-existent, and of course the ever presence of dodgy wankers starting fights, or trying to finger you behind the bins.
Kids and young adults are broke, they don’t like alcohol as much as they used to, and they have better things to engage in. If they want to socialize, dance, get drunk, and have fun, the club should be the place to do that, but it just isn’t… it’s such a subpar experience that it’s not worth it. – Alundra828, reddit.
