Swedish man splitting atoms in kitchen Swedish muppet chef The Muppets

A Swedish man has been arrested after trying to split atoms in his kitchen, claiming it was ‘a hobby’.

Richard Handl, 31 and unemployed, had been using radioactive elements in his Angelholm apartment for months, before deciding to ask the Swedish Radiation Authority if what he was doing was legal. The police were then sent.

Not only had the Swede been trying to set up a nuclear reactor in his home, he also kept a blog about it, once describing a meltdown on his stove. Although police did not find any dangerous levels of radiation, the mad scientist could be sent to jail for two years for his actions.

Handl said he ‘’had always been interested in physics and chemistry,” before adding ‘’from now on, I will stick to the theory”.

It is thought Handl will now return to his previous hobby – growing a cannabis factory in his living room.
