TENNIS: Who could forget the emotional rollercoaster of Dawson and Joey’s will-they-won’t-they love affair in 90s classic teen-drama Geordie Racer? It defined an era.
But just as Joey moved on to become Maverick from Top Gun’s reason-why-he’s-not-gay, so too did the world. So it is that tennis must come to terms with the end of an era.
Roger Federer (pictured), the tournament’s top seed, was bundled out of Wimbledon last week at the quarter final stage, succumbing in four sets to the Czech Tomas Berdvch.
But like an ostrich flapping its wings for take off, Federer was oblivious to his regression down the chain of life.
“I can’t wait for Paris and Wimbledon to come around next year,” he roared, before climbing into a DeLorean and setting it for the year 2005.
