You can’t go wrong with a nice cold ice cream in summer…Well, maybe you can if it’s soy sauce flavour.
Japanese confectionary company Hirota has brought a whole new meaning to sweet and sour by launching the bizarre ice cream flavour.
The company plan to use it to fill their new line of cream puff treats. Yum.
“It’s a mixture of soy sauce and ice cream, producing a well-balanced salty, yet sweet, ice cream which is perfect for the summer,” Tokyo-based developer Kunihiko Shirokawa told the Metro.
“We are planning another product for the autumn.”
What’s that going to be? Sushi flavour?
However the whole project is for a good cause, as Hirota has teamed up with Yamani Soy Sauce Co, a Japanese city which was hit particularly badly by the March 2011 tsunami.
A portion of proceeds from the project will go towards continuing to provide aid in the area.
