A piece of advice for anyone hoping to sell unusual or easily identifiable stolen items on Craigslist – don’t sell unusual or easily identifiable stolen items on Craigslist.
Because, you know, the legal owners might be looking out for it and use it as a way of trapping and arresting you.
That’s exactly what happened in San Bernardino, California, last month when the rightful owners of a stolen pure-bred bulldog pup noticed one for sale on the website for $2500. Gunny the dog was taken during a strong-arm robbery.
Sheriff’s deputies watched as the owners met with the suspects, and one of the owners immediately identified the dog. Minutes later the dognappers were in jail.
