This weekend sees holders Wales, looking to make it a record third successive tournament victory take on Italy on Saturday followed by France taking on last game day losers England. With Sunday offering up Ireland versus the Scottish, rugby fans are in for an entertaining weekend that’s for sure.
The Irish are without Ronan O’Gara for the first time this century after his move to coaching. Speaking on not taking part, O’Gara stated, “It’s that half an hour sitting in a winning dressing room after the game, that’s what I’ll miss most. Oh, and the all-day drinking session after the final game!”
Honestly now, Ronan. When does an Irishman need a reason like the final game of a tournament to take part in an all-day drinking session?
Under caretaker head coach Scott Johnson, the Scottish are not expected to make any huge impact this year with Johnson looking ahead to next year’s World Cup. Johnson is insistent on blooding new young players although, they are still expected to take a big scalp. The question is just, who?
At BBMLive we’re not entirely sure Johnson is the right man to be caretaker head coach after saying, “We’ll always make sure they are equipped to do it physically: we don’t want to go to a gunfight with a water pistol.” It’s rugby, mate. You’re not John Rambo battling through the jungle with infinite ammo!!!
Johnson is acknowledges that his squad are in a transitional stage however, still feels that they can pressurise the stronger outfits in the tournament. “If we get good consistency then in parts of our game we can beat anyone on our day.
“If we keep being there and knocking on the door, the door will open. We’re not far from a couple of big scalps here.”
