Popular Sesame street characters Bert and Ernie will not marry despite an online petition calling for them to do so.
The same sex couple, who have lived together for more than 40 years, apparently ‘’do not have a sexual orientation” according to a show spokesperson, although they did admit that they are ‘’male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics”. They were confirmed as just ‘’best friends,” and not gay as many suspect.
Sesame Street is one of the most successful shows in television history, being shown in 140 countries and drawing in 120 million viewers.
A large yellow bird-like source, who wished to remain unnamed, believes the real reason the two won’t marry is because Bert has never forgiven Ernie for his affair with The Count.
