Queen Elizabeth honours Ronnie CorbettQueen Elizabeth has honoured Ronnie Corbett with a CBE.
The 85-year-old monarch handed the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire to 81-year-old comic in recognition of the services he has provided throughout his career to both the entertainment world and a whole host of charitable organisations.
Ronnie said: “She told me, ‘You make people laugh’. It’s a very lovely honour.”
Elsewhere, Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey recently admitted he has become a huge fan of the British royal family as a result of being made an honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to drama by the monarch’s eldest son Prince Charles last year.
He recently told BANG Showbiz: “Are you kidding me? The queen made me a CBE last year, I’ve got to be a huge fan of her. How could I be anything else?”
The ‘American Beauty’ star is currently serving a 10-year stint as artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre and is also a charity ambassador for Charles’ Prince’s Trust organisation.
