Beauty pageants are a weird breed of social event. Females from across England all battle it out to be crowned queen and along comes Alize Mounter, not English at all but one of those Leek eating, Daffodyl wearing types – Welsh! She was a finalist in her own Country, made it onto Britian’s Next Top Model and managed to beat 63 English girls to the crown.
A spokesman said the rules state that contestants must be a British citizen living in England. Due to moving here for university she classes as just that. The 21-year-old student said ” I’m proud to be representing England but everyone who knows me will tell you that deep down I am very Welsh.” What chance does this leave the rest of us? Girls move to Wales and take the crown there for revenge.
