Money can’t buy you love Roberto, and Kenny has proved that to you! Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-2 on aggregate to reach the Carling Cup Final where they will face Cardiff City. This will be Liverpool’s first appearance at Wembley since 1996, an astonishing fact as Arsenal, both the Manchester clubs, Tottenham and Chelsea have all played at the new Wembley, even BIRMINGHAM CITY have played there! But Dalglish’s team, who drew 2-2 in the second leg of the tie last night, held firm with goals from Steven Gerrard and ex-Manchester City player Craig Bellamy scoring the crucial goals to put them through after going behind twice through City scorers Nigel De Jong and Edin Dzeko.
There will now be two reunions in the final as Steven will face his cousin Anthony Gerrard of Cardiff City in the final and Bellamy will face his old club as the two prepare for their biggest match in years. The two will be hoping to win bragging rights at Wembley. Speaking of bragging rights, Gerrard revealed after the game that in both games, as he scored both penalties in the two games (the first leg ending 1-0 to Liverpool), him and Manchester City Goalkeeper Joe Hart had been having post-match banter about the outcome of the penalties. I think Gerrard’s celebration, pointing two fingers straight at Joe Hart after his second penalty, showed who won the bragging rights between the two England Internationals. Show’s how much love the England team have for each other, aw.
