Top Rank CEO and promoter of Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum, has informed Floyd Mayweather and Golden Boy Promotions that he will not enter negotiations for a potential fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, as they are looking to make a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao was awarded a contentious decision against Marquez at the weekend to make it two Pacquiao wins and one draw in their series – and Arum has seemingly used the controversy to avoid making the fight with Mayweather.

Boxing being the messed up sport it is, the best can avoid the best if they’re making good money – but the clamour for a fight between boxing’s biggest stars has been continuous for three years, and despite the difficulties in making the bout, many believed it was inevitable that Pacquiao and Mayweather would face each other.

Mayweather has taken most of the blame for the super-fight not being made – with his sudden demands for stricter drugs testing and huge pay guarantees – and has been accused of not willing to risk losing his unbeaten record; but it’s now quite clear that Arum has as much interest – or lack thereof – in making the fight happen.

In theory, Arum would have no choice but to make the fight should Pacquiao defeat Marquez again – but seeing as he’s told fans many times to go fuck themselves, that’s by no means guaranteed.

It may happen in the future, but for now boxing fans can look forward to more of the already beyond tedious, will they/won’t they, who’s to blame saga. *Yawn*
