Like something out of The Hendersons, a 17-year-old English speaking German boy called Ray has come forward to the authorities in Berlin claiming he doesn’t know who he is, and doesn’t have any family or know anyone.
Thought to have been living in a forest south of Berlin, the boy said his father had recently died in a fall, and now he was completely alone. He claimed he and his father had been sleeping in tents and burrows in the woods for a number of years.
A civil servant who spoke at length with the boy told the Daily Telegraph, ‘He didn’t look like at all like a vagrant – he didn’t smell, he was clean, his clothes were clean but he simply didn’t know anything about who he was. He said he needed help, that he didn’t know where to go and had no one in the world to look after him. I tried as much as I could to find out details about where he was from but he just didn’t know.’
The boy is currently being cared for by social services, but is apparently finding it hard to adjust to sleeping in a bed, and is thought to want to return to the forest to sleep on the floor. Yes this story is just plain weird, and really is the stuff movies are made of. Perhaps he watched the film Hanna too many times, got fucked off with his family and thought he’d try his luck and see what he could pike off of the state…
