A gold-digging chimp in India has sparked outrage among a wealthy couple’s relatives after they changed their will so that the monkey gets everything when they die.
Oddballs Brajesh Srivastava and wife Shabista were ostracised by their families when they married because he’s a Hindu and she’s Muslim.
But in 2005 they bought Chunmun the monkey for $8 and believe he’s the reason their financial luck changed.
As a result, they’ve lavished the little chimp with gifts and even splashed out on an expensive wedding for Chunmun and a lady monkey called Bitti Yadav. The two monkeys live together at the couple’s home, and have a party for their wedding anniversary every year.
Weird.
Look out Geoffrey Edelsten – with your track record there’s no doubt Chunmun will be gunning for your fortune next. On the plus side, he’d probably provide more stimulating conversation than Brynne Edelsten and Gabi Grecko.
