It is that time of year again to reflect on what has gone on and sit back and enjoy but there will be no festivities at West Brom and Crystal Palace after sacking Alan Irvine and Neil Warnock. The two will be drowning themselves over the Christmas break but let’s get down to the nitty gritty.
Manchester City completely bagged the baggies as they run out comfortable 3-1 winners at the Hawthorns against West Brom. The goals coming from Fernando, the African powerhouse Yaya Toure and David Silva to continue their hot pursuit on Chelsea. They even managed to avoid being snowed under as the weather became wintery and chilly.
For Alan Irving, this was his last match in charge and they do say every cloud has a silver lining but on this occasion there was to be no saviour as the only Silva on show was the one that dazzled his way through the baggies backline to score. Not even a Brown Ideye consolation goal could lift spirits but for Irvine, a few spirits will be needed to forget this match.
We didn’t get a white Christmas but it may be a Dutch Christmas at Old Trafford and the red side Manchester are dreaming of a top four place and a return to Champions League. Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie, at the ages of 31 and 29 could be accused of being the Granddads in the Red Devil’s side but they certainly know how to stick their studs in. After a Rooney brace and a goal From Van Persie put those Geordies to the sword and gave Manchester United a 3-1 win. From a Newcastle perspective, their wishes have come true as former manager Alan Pardew returns down south and takes the manager’s seat at Crystal Palace. Looks like those sack Pardew websites should be paying out now.
Lastly, it has to be the last match of the fiery and trash talking Neil Warnock. His exploits and referee bashing could belong in the WWE after he could trash talk his way to a fine and suspension from the FA. However, the Saints soon sealed his lips and fate after dishing at a 3-1 humbling at Selhurst Park. Goals from Sadio Mane, Ryan Bertrand and Toby Alderweireld ending the reign of Neil Warnock. No pressure for Pardew then, but he’s kicked off his time at Palace with an FA Cup win over minos, Dover 4-0.
