This week’s prize prick is awarded to a man who would inevitably have been on this list at some point. In fact you could probably expect future features. That man is Manchester United’s Patrice Evra. The left back is regular for cocky comments and is more than welcome to this trophy.
Patrice has made headlines after he laid down a verbal assault upon French pundits and World cup winning left back Bixente Lizarazu whom he labelled “tramps”.
“People have a good impression of me, it won’t be these tramps who who dirty my image. They must stop lying to the French people”, Evra said.
The outburst has drawn the attention of the French Football Federation who’ve asked him to explain his comments. Evra is convinced that they are attempting to tarnish his reputation. He obviously believes he can do by himself by targeting a French football hero.
Lizarazu: “Evra blames us for dirtying his image but he is doing ta great job himself.”
Patrice Evra already has a history of disruptive incidents in the French camp. He was regarded as one of the prime instigators in the infamous French revolt at the 2010 World cup. The embarrassment of the revolt led to the French public calling for his head or his shirt, it was probably his shirt.
His outburst has evoked a response from France coach Didier Deschamps who is keen to defend the left back but admits that he can never captain the side again. This may be a last chance saloon for Evra as the French, despite his claims, already want him removed from the national side.
