After the leagues resumed at the weekend following the international break, top teams rounded up their players and repaired the injured as the UEFA Champions League gets underway for the 2013/14 season.
Here’s a host of the big fixtures and my predictions, see if you can beat me:
Manchester Utd vs Bayern Leverkusen-Tuesday (3-1)
United will have too much firepower for the Bundesliga side managed by former Liverpool centre back Sami Hyypia. Robin Van Persie brace on the cards against a weak back line.
Galatasaray vs Real Madrid- Tuesday (2-2)
Think this is going to be a fairly tough game for both sides, Galatasaray are always tough opposition at home with Didier Drogba and Wesley Snjeiider class acts.
But where there’s a bale there’s a way as the Welshman looks to add to a good debut at the weekend against Villareal.
Plzen vs Manchester City- Tuesday (0-3)
Despite Polish sides being hard to break down at home, Manuel Pellegrini’s side such be inventive enough to grab an away win and get
there campaign on track after a sluggish start
Marseille vs Arsenal- Wednesday (1-3)
After losing to Tottenham, Arsenal have played well with Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud leading the way. Expect the same
tomorrow in France.
Chelsea vs FC Basel- Wednesday (2-1)
Jose Mourinho’s side stuttered at the weekend against Everton but they should have enough. Basel may pose a threat though after wins against Manchester United and Tottenham
in recent years.
AC Milan vs Celtic- Wednesday (2-0)
The seven time champions Milan have an abundance of attacking talent in their side with Mario Balotelli and co. Celtic usually play on the counter and defend in
numbers so they could provide an upset.
