Barack Obama tried his hand as a comedian yesterday at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, and he was a lot more successful than professional comedian, and fellow American, Reginald D Hunter, who appeared at the PFA Player of the Year Awards on the other side of the pond in England.
The U.S. President received the biggest laugh of the night when he broadcast a video of himself doing an impression of Daniel Day Lewis playing Barack Obama. However, he showed he wasn’t just a one trick pony as a series of one-liners and a picture of him mocking his wife’s new haircut kept the crowd entertained for over 20 minutes.
Nevertheless across the Atlantic, Hunter has found himself in the middle of a media storm following a 15-minute routine in which he dropped the N-word on a number of occasions, and a C-bomb for good measure. The apparently distasteful routine has caused quite a stir, particularly surrounding race relations in football.
Perhaps the two should switch their day job? On the other hand perhaps not.
