Arsenal are being tipped to finally splash the cash a bit more after qualifying for the Champion’s League. Wenger’s Gunners look set to gain £25m for advancing to the next stage, adding to the £55m already brought in from the sales of Fabregas and Nasri. Fans and Highbury legend Ian Wright have called on the club to re-invest this money, and with £80m to play with it might just happen. They have already bought forward Gervinho for £10.5m, and winger Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain for £12m although he is considered to be one for the future.
£26m rated Lille midfielder Eden Hazard is allegedly a target, as is Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta. Arteta’s team-mate Phil Jagielka is reportedly still on Wenger’s radar, with the defender being valued at around £18m. A loan bid for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka has been rejected according to the tabloids.
Fresh from their takeover, Q.P.R have emerged as a contender to sign Joey Barton from Newcastle, although West Ham supposedly want him too.
Man City’s out-of-favour forward Emmanuel Adebayor could be on his way to Tottenham for as little as nothing, but only if they sign Real Madrid’s defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra first. Spurs recently sold Robbie Keane to LA Galaxy in the Mickey Mouse league American MLS, joining up with David Beckham who Spurs tried to loan not too long ago. Spurs still have four strikers, all of whom have been linked with moves away from the club (Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, Crouch, dos Santos). Midfielders Jermaine Jenas, Wilson Palacios Niko Kranjcar and David Bentley have also been linked to several different clubs. Luka Modric is still a Tottenham player although Chelsea have apparently made a £30m bid.
Wesley Sneijder is still at Inter Milan despite Man Utd still being interested according to various sources.
