There are fewer sports filled with burly, ruthless giants than the sport of rugby, and the 2015 Rugby World Cup pays testament to this fact. We’ve picked our top four beasts of rugby, men that would leave us quaking in our proverbial rugby boots were we to face them over the field.

Uini Atonio

Weighing in at an astonishing 145kg, this fearsome Kiwi boasts the distinction of being the 2015 Rugby World Cup’s heaviest player. Of Samoan heritage, he represents France internationally.

Devin Toner

Standing literally head and shoulders over the competition, Irishman Devin Toner measures in at 6’10” which is 208cm. The 29-year-old is famed for his unusual stature and is known to be the tallest player in the Heineken Cup.

Nemani Nodolo

27-year-old Fijian Nemani Nodolo manages to combine powerful muscle mass and weight with a deftness and agility that gives him a fearsome edge whilst playing in wing or centre position. At 6’5” and 126kg, this isn’t the kind of man you’d like to encounter in a dark alleyway or on a brightly lit rugby pitch for that matter.

Leroy Atalifo

Also 27-years-old and also hailing from Fiji (was there something in the water?), Leroy Atalifo is a force to be reckoned with for sure. Whilst he may be of comparatively short stature at only 5’10”, he still weighs in at 130kg which makes him an unsettling powerhouse with the added benefit of a lower centre of gravity, which no doubt proves useful when it comes time to smash through the opposition.
