sharkDrawing on all his experience of wrangling sheep in the majestic valleys of Merthyr Tydfil*, a 62-year-old Welsh holidaymaker wrestled a six-foot shark on the Sunshine Coast to stop it attacking fellow beachgoers last month.

Paul Marshallsea and two other men ran into the water and grabbed the shark in an attempt to get it to swim away.”The trouble was when we got the shark to just over knee deep it then turned on us and just missed me with a bite which was a fraction away from my leg,” the Welsh granddad said.”A shark that one minute ago was so docile now just nearly took my leg off in a split second – it was that quick.”

The feat was amazing not just because of the danger element, but because while there are plenty of Scottish, English and Irish immigrants, you never seem to meet any Welshmen in Australia.

*Merthyr is one of the biggest shitholes BBM has ever visited. And we’ve lived in Grimsby.
