An Argentinian third division football game between long-standing rivals Deportivo Roca and Cipolletti FC took a surprise twist in the 67th minute when the players decided to stage an impromptu Royal Rumble.
A war-crime of a tackle sparked an all-in mass brawl, which lasted for over a minute and ended with no less than 12 players receiving their marching orders. All it needed was the Undertaker to hit the referee on the back of the head with a steel chair and Vince McMahon would have added it to his next Wrestlemania DVD.
The fixture had to be suspended as a result of the brawl and the Argentine FA are now looking at handing out lengthy bans to both clubs for failing to control their players.
“I can’t keep protecting people who don’t want to run about and train, who are about three stone overweight,” Redknapp slobbered. “What am I supposed to keep saying, keep getting your 60, 70 grand a week and don’t train? What’s the game coming to?”
Taarabt responded with: “He spends most of the time in his office but when he gets off the phone he comes down to watch for five or 10 minutes – he never takes a session … I am a professional – this is not about retaliation, this is about protecting my reputation.”
We’re not sure if Taarabt needs to lose weight, but he could definitely do with trimming an excess “A” from his surname. It could all be academic now anyway, because like a teacher trying to separate two fat kids fighting over an éclair, QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has grabbed both their ears and pulled them apart. “I have spoken to them both personally,”
Fernandes headmastered. “Both have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation.”
