Some hackers think big when they target websites, like that Syrian group who hijack Western sites to make political statements, or the online group Lulzsec who slapped down News Corp and Sony.
And at the other end of the spectrum, you have hackers who think very, very small – like last month when someone hacked into the Peppa Pig Facebook page and told all her child fans to “go to hell”. Not great for the kids but it made us laugh.
“Unfortunately the Peppa Pig World Facebook page has been compromised,” a spokesman said. “We are looking into the situation asap, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
Hilariously, Facebook did nothing about the hacker for several days as they could not prove he/she was not an official user. In the meantime, the hacker posted pictures of porn stars, the Teletubbies and offensive text exchanges – many of which received numerous ‘likes’.
