• ANDY Murray can sheik up world tennis and land his first Major in Australia this month – we don’t think that, but Rafael Nadal does.
After losing to the sulky Scot at the World Tennis Championships final in Abu Dhabi, world No1 Nadal said Murray, not Roger Federer or reigning champion Novak Djokovic, is his main rival in Melbourne.
Murray got 2009 off to a dream start as he also beat Federer and banked £172,000 for his efforts, despite the tournament only being an exhibition event, after seeing off Nadal 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in the final.
Apparently after every match the world No 4 and fitness trainer Jez Green played football-tennis on court with the loser facing a forfeit.
Murray revealed: “At dinner Jez was wearing make-up with me in my clothes inside out – again. People definitely think we are odd.”
Sorry Andy, but it will take a bit more than that to persuade us you’re interesting. We’d still go with dull, petulant, classless spoilt brat.
• PHIL Taylor turned the power up like never before to hammer Raymond van Barneveld 7-1 and take his 14th world darts title, and first for three years, with a record three-dart average of 109.76.
