The Red Devils, the most decorated in English history, are currently trending on twitter as they post record figures of revenue for 2013 and it’s no wonder really. They continue to boom with smart purchases in the transfer market, a huge fan base that continues to grow, brilliant marketing and consistently high attendances in both the Premier League and Champions League home and away.
So will the Manchester juggernaut ever stop improving its annual figures?
While rivals hoped the new era of David Moyes post-Sir Alex Ferguson would affect morale on and off the pitch, financially they will never change. There frequent trips to Asia each summer began with fans going mental for David Beckham. Now since he left, they have always insured the best Asian stars make there way to United. Case in examples being Park Ji-Sung and now Shinji Kagawa. And they’re not the only club that recognise that revenue can be boosted by buying players with huge popularity, hence why Real Madrid continue with their Galatico policy and Barcelona mix home grown talent with the best players from Africa such as Samuel Eto’o and Alex Song.
With commercial deals in place with companies such as Chevrolet, their new shirt sponsors for next season, commercial revenue now accounts for 42% of the club’s income. The Premier League champions now have £363 million for the twelve months leading up to June, and currently doing well in the league and with their first Champions League win against Bayern Leverkusen, they show no sign of slowing down.
