168210631_d606546615AS is always the way when there’s a World cup on the horizon, businesses back in Britain decide to show their patriotism by cooking up some sort of stunt which, totally by coincidence, also gets them a load of publicity.
Step forward the 15 staff members of the Bay Horse pub in West Yorkshire – who have all changed their name to Wayne Rooney. And owners Lee and Lorraine Kennedy have also changed their name – to Fabio Capello.
One Wayne Rooney, formerly Joanne Hill, 23, said everyone agreed on the mass change of names to show their support for the England team.
“The managers wanted to do something so we all sat down and decided to do this,” said Miss Rooney nee Hill, while counting her column inches in The Sun.
“It’s to show our support for England and show how much we’re behind them.”
All 15 staff at the Bay Horse have #33 certificates from the UK Deed Poll Service to prove their new identities.
They will all remain Wayne Rooney until the end of the World Cup on July 12 when they will revert to being their former selves.
