A victorious Jeff Langum holds his hairy head up high after winning the National Beard and Mustache Championships which were held at the House of Blues in New Orleans on Saturday.
Lots of praise and messages of congratulations were posted on Facebook from friends and fans. Regev Nyström, according to the Metro, contributed to the mass of Facebook wall posts stating, ‘I am so proud of you and happy for you, Jeff. You have one of the most unique and fantastic beards out there and it deserves the recognition and praise!’.
Langum, from Voorhees, New Jersey won six hundred and forty quid ($1,000) after attending the event last weekend. There are in total of 17 categories in the competition, including the Full Beard Natural Category, the Musketeer category and the Delicate Deli category. His award winning beard was branded as a ‘scraggly rising sun’ after beating dozens of fellow beard faced contenders after the crowd voted him the best through a voting system which required the audience to cheer the loudest for their favourite.
