It is that time of that year again to smoke those cigars and put your feet up, so you can decide who has scored the best goal of the year for 2014. The jury and votes are now being placed and now with only three finalists to vote for it is decision time.
Not to blow our own trumpet but, at BBM our team have put a few worldies in the back of the net that could match up with the top three goals of 2014. Granted, they were all scored when having a office tournament on FIFA 15!
We’ve taken a look at the finalists for the year’s FIFA Puskas Award 2014. Watch their truly stunning efforts below.
Stephanie Roche
Roll up, roll up! The first nominee is Stephanie Roche, who produces her own fantastic one, two, three combo with the ball and an amazing strike. After being back to goal, she delicately flicks the ball up and loops it over the defender to strike a dipping volley over the keeper. The opposition goalkeeper easily feeling dizzy and dazed from great technique.
James Rodriguez
Secondly, is the biggest Colombian export since Shakira and coffee, James (Ham-Ez) Rodriguez, who showcases one of the reasons why the hotheads of Real Madrid paid €80 million to land him from Monaco. The 23 year old produces a moment of magic, when he chests the ball over his head and swivels to unleash an exquisite volley that smashes in via the underside of the crossbar. Hips Don’t Lie was a hit for Shakira but for James that was some hit of his own.
Robin van Persie
Lastly, is one forward who certainly doesn’t lack Dutch courage and that is Robin van Persie. The Manchester United man certainly was afraid to put his neck on the line when he met Daley Blind’s long ball to produce his own swan dive impression and head the ball inside the box over a stranded Iker Casillas. The only irony that with a name like Blind, Daley certainly has an eye for a pass and not that Robin was complaining.
So, no space for Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on the list. But, most shocking is that the self acclaimed world’s greatest footballer Nicklas Bendtner didn’t even manage to be a nominee for this years Puskas Award!
