When it comes to “pimping out” cars and general use of “street” slang, BBM is pretty hip and happening. We even used the word “shizzle” once, although admittedly we thought it meant really bad drizzle.
But the use of colourful language backfired on one unlucky eBay retailer, who’s oddball description of his naff Ford Fiesta racked up an online bid of $500,000 – before being pulled because of “homophobic” terms.
“You can’t become a man until you’ve owned a proper lads car, so if you don’t buy this Zetec S you will always be spotty, your voice will never break properly and you will never beat your addiction to masturbation,” wrote 21-year-old Jamie Rogers, from Chelmsford, Essex. “If you’re a parent looking for a car on behalf of your son, this is the car for you. If you’re 35-years-old still living at home and yet to be touched intimately by a woman, then this car is not for you, fuckwit.
“Driving this car will increase the quality of your sex life, significantly. The sheer speed of this thing has torn paint away from the wheel arches revealing some rust. It’s filthy dirty inside and out, cleanliness is for botty boys.”
Alas, the fun police at an anti-homophobia charity found the clearly tongue in cheek advert “offensive” and forced eBay to close it down – which is slightly worrying as if you can close things down for being offensive then BBM has been walking on thin ice for about five years now. Rogers said he will re-post the listing – “though maybe not as funny” – because he does actually want to sell the car.
