In possibly the worst excuse we’ve ever heard for trying to get out of a breathalyser test, two drunk men in Oklahoma told officers their minivan crashed because their dog was driving.
Officers were called to a veterinary clinic in Oklahoma when a vehicle was spotted in a ditch last month.
When the owners of the gold minivan, William McDonald, 65, and Steven Schofield, 42, were asked how the accident happened, McDonald first told police he and Schofield had pulled over because they were tired, and when they tried to turn around, the van became stuck.
“I asked who was driving the vehicle and both of them denied even driving the vehicle,” said officer Thomas Donnell. “McDonald stated that the dog was driving the vehicle and that was why they had gotten stuck.”
Donnell said both men smelled of alcohol, had trouble standing without assistance and had poor hand-to-eye coordination. Both liars were immediately detained.
As for the dog, it was taken to a local animal shelter, but the son of a bitch has so far refused to say whether it was behind the wheel.
