Olivier Giroud is quite a player. And we’re not talking about football either. Turns out goals aren’t the only thing Giroud has been banging away this season after the married Arsenal striker was caught balls-deep in American model Celia Kay by The Sun, who managed to get photos of him half-naked in Kay’s hotel room.
At first the randy Frenchman denied the accusations, but when the photos emerged he realised the jig was up and confessed all. And what better way to patch things up with a publically-humiliated spouse than by announcing your shagabout sins on Twitter.
“I apologise to my wife, family and friends and my manager, team-mates and Arsenal fans,” he wrote, in French and English. “I now have to fight for my family and for my club and obtain their forgiveness. Nothing else matters at the moment.”
We’re not sure if he also included the hashtag #upthearsenal. We certainly hope so.
Publicity-seeking Kay said she and Giroud were “extremely loving and tactile” but did not have sex – despite being in the room together from 12.50am to 3.04am. This, of course, is traditional paper speak for “I tipped off the paparazzi about the whole thing to boost my profile, so long as they printed my version of events so I don’t look too much like a marriage-wrecking whore”. In all likelihood she was probably still mopping the jizz off her cleavage as she gave the interview.
Arsene Wenger said that the club would address the matter behind closed doors.
“He has made a statement and for the rest, we’ll deal with it internally. I don’t think there’s much more to add to that because I want to respect his privacy as well,” Arsene said while winking and poking a finger into a hole created by his other hand.
