Rihanna Says New Music Should Be ‘Amazing’ and ‘Show Growth’
Rihanna intends to “show truly where I am at” on her next album, she said on the carpet at her latest Fenty Beauty product launch.
Rihanna talked music, makeup, motherhood, and the Met Gala at the launch of her new Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation in Los Angeles on Friday (April 26), a celebration ringing in what she called “a new era in the foundation for the brand.”
The singer and businesswoman talked up the new cosmetics product’s “soft, luminescent finish, like a nice, glowy, natural-skin look” inspired by what sounds like very lovely golden hours in Barbados. But this is what you came for a music update! Rihanna seems aware everyone has long been pining for R9, which would be the long-awaited follow-up to her 2016 album Anti and humored some questions about her next album in an interview with Extra on the carpet at Friday’s event.
In a nutshell, Rihanna is firm on making a new album worth the wait.
“It’s gonna be amazing,” she said of what’s to come from her as an artist. “It has to be — that is the only reason it’s not out yet. If I’m not feeling it and I’m not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away …There should be a show of growth, right?”
“I want to play, and I feel like music is a playground, and I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at,” Rihanna said, adding that she only intends to collaborate with another artist if it’s “very intentional. I’ll know when I have the record.”
Just a week and a half ago, it should be noted, Rihanna stated, “I already got stuff that I feel like I could make hits out of.” She referred to her work in progress as “so good.”
While Rihanna’s new music master plan remains unknown, she did confirm plans to attend the Met Gala, and revealed right now she’s got two options for her dress on the big night — but don’t expect anything too wild.
“I’m just keeping it real simple this year,” said Rihanna of what she’s got in mind for the prestigious May 6 event. “Very simple. I think it’s gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do. We wanna play with that, but I have no idea what I’m gonna do with that.”
“Very simple-ish, compared to everything I’ve ever done,” she said of her idea to arrive in an understated look. “I’m showing up for dinner! Shout out to Anna Wintour.”
The star, who’s a mother to an almost two-year-old (son RZA turns two in May) with A$AP Rocky, explained her experience with fashion since entering parenthood. “When you become a mom, your style goes from like ‘blah’ to ‘let’s see what fits’ to ‘I’m gonna be a bad bitch today,’” said Rihanna. “You’ve got to remind yourself a little bit sometimes, you know, bad bitch is still in there somewhere.”
BREAKOUT PRODUCER CYRIL JOINS FORCES WITH DEAN LEWIS FOR THE RELEASE OF ‘FALL AT YOUR FEET’
BUY/STREAM: CYRIL – FALL AT YOUR FEET (WITH DEAN LEWIS)
CYRIL JOINS FORCES WITH DEAN LEWIS. Australian sensation CYRIL teams up with singer-songwriter Dean Lewis for their new single “Fall At Your Feet,” a dance-pop gem that serves as a follow-up to CYRIL’s 2023 breakthrough hit “Stumblin’ In” and his official remix for Disturbed’s “The Sound Of Silence” from February this year; both have just surpassed combined 400M streams on Spotify alone with “Stumblin’ In” entering Global Top 50 on the platform just recently and collecting a steady number of 2M streams daily.
Keeping with his dreamy and versatile sonic style, the new track opens with Lewis’s soulful topline accompanied by a wistful piano solo, setting the stage for the gradual introduction of ethereal melodies that blend into a chorus complemented by a muted, undulating bassline. With its combination of organic production and emotive vocals, “Fall At Your Feet” is primed for breezy hangouts and plenty of radio play. CYRIL was also praised by Spotify’s US Pop Editor in an interview with Billboard, who emphasised its longevity and international appeal of “Stumblin’ In.”
The two artists began working together when Dean reached out to CYRIL via social media, and now we are blessed with “Fall At Your Feet,” which is the first single from CYRIL’s upcoming EP – “From Down Under.”

50 CENT REACTS TO LIL UZI VERT’S SECOND COACHELLA OUTFIT & PERFORMANCE
50 Cent, never shy to voice his opinion, has shard his thoughts on Lil Uzi Vert’s second straight eyebrow raising Coachella outfit and performance.
The G-Unit icon took to Instagram on Saturday (April 20) and shared a screenshot of a website recap that described Uzi’s look. It read: “Lil Uzi A City Girl: Onstage w/ His NAILS, Painted & Carrying PURSE!”
50 captioned his post: “Something is in the water [anguished face emoji] what make you do that bro ?”
Check out 50’s post, plus a recap of the “Just Wanna Rock” rapper’s outfit below.
Fans criticized Lil Uzi Vert’s outfit, but his girlfriend JT has defended him multiple times. She shut down a fan who questioned Uzi’s performance and previously responded to a Twitter post that insulted Uzi’s appearance. Despite past struggles.
One user wrote: “He remind me of HIM from Power Puff Girls. Yall remember?”
Another simply said: “Shit getting too weird.” A third concluded: “This man wearing JT purse outside.”
Uzi’s sartorial decision making may be rubbing 50 Cent the wrong way, but his boo has been quick to stand up and defend his choices.
After Uzi’s performance during Week 1 of Coachella earlier last Saturday (April 13), JT cleared a fan with the quickness who thought it a good idea to come for Lil Uzi Vert‘s dance performance.
The rapper almost immediately went viral for their moves, and while most fans were appreciative of the talent, some were misguided enough to roast them for the performance.
“Wait wait wait Lil Uzi was vogueing last night,” wrote one fan. “And he did the death drop! Now @ThegirlJT we need answers ma ma.”
“You actually need edges,” replied the City Girl. “Y’all obsession with someone you don’t have to deal with is spooky asf! What is it to you? Why do you need answers skinthead?”
Back in July, a Twitter post made by a presumptive troll featured a very snarky comment about the “Just Wanna Rock” rapper, who isn’t what one might call “traditionally handsome.” Apparently, a user by the name of “Marie Hendrix” thought so, as well.
“This really JT man?” she wrote, quote-tweeting a photo of Lil Uzi Vert, who actually uses they/them pronouns.
Within minutes, JT responded. “Yes! & I’ll beat you in your mouth about him!”
While JT and Lil Uzi Vert are nothing if not a happy couple now, things weren’t always that way for the pair.
Gwen Stefani and No Doubt reunite for Coachella performance
When No Doubt broke through with “Just a Girl” almost 30 years ago, it was instantly clear that front woman Gwen Stefani wasn’t “just” anything. And at a main-stage reunion Saturday night (April 13) at Coachella, Stefani proved that the band’s debut hit — and the band itself — remains as vital as ever in its third decade.
n April 13, No Doubt headlined the Coachella Music Festival, and Stefani dressed for the part. It was only natural that the queen of ’90s angst wore a plaid two-piece set that had all the elements of a great ’90s look: Lots of cut-outs, mismatched prints, buckles, and fishnets. Halfway through the show, she changed into a white corset top with matching shorts revealing her knee-high plaid combat boots. Coachella 2024
“You tell me, but I feel like this song could be more relevant now than it’s ever been,” Stefani said in the intro to “Just a Girl,” which includes lyrics like “I’m just a girl, all pretty and petite/ So don’t let me have any rights.”
Lana Del Rey at Coachella review – a disappointingly lifeless start to the festival
Del Rey and the festival peaked in the mid-2010s, during the early years of influencer culture excess. So it makes sense that Coachella’s Golden Girl would headline even though, in 2024, Del Rey doing so feels about a decade too late.
Indeed, Del Rey first played Coachella precisely ten years to the day before Friday’s opening night performance, as she proudly told the crowd. This time, she rode in on a biker motorcade, clad in a baby blue sequin dress, smiling and waving like the beauty queens she’s prone to singing about. It was ambitious, lively crowd work – literal momentum to start the show-off right. But then she opened her mouth. Del Rey has become an icon for the dour and terminally online, partly due to her well-known shtick: being too relaxed and half there. Unfortunately, her signature laconic delivery didn’t work for such a big stage and came off as unprepared rather than unbothered.
Ongoing mic problems plagued her set the whole way through, causing awkward stops, starts and moments in which she just motioned for the singing crowd to pick up the slack for her.
Doja Cat Brings Out A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage, and Teezo Touchdown at Coachella 2024
Doja Cat headlined the final night of the first weekend of the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, bringing out guests including 21 Savage, Teezo Touchdown, and—adding to his Tyler, the Creator guest spot—A$AP Rocky. Doja Cat’s Scarlet-heavy setlist also made room for an appearance from a capella group, The Joy, but it omitted pop hits like “Say So” and “Kiss Me More,” favouring a rap-forward approach. Check out the setlist below and Coachella’s ongoing rebroadcast of shows from across the weekend.
In a show that featured a puppet dinosaur skeleton and abundant mud dancing, Doja Cat gave several songs live debuts, including opener “Acknowledge Me” and three collaborations: “N.H.I.E.” with 21 Savage, “Masc” with Teezo Touchdown, and “Urrrge” with A$AP Rocky.
Lana Del Rey headlined the first night of Coachella 2024, followed by Tyler, the Creator. Earlier on Saturday, Sky Ferreira made a surprise appearance.
Doja Cat: Acknowledge Me, Shutcho, Demons, Tia Tamera, Fuck the Girls (FTG), Gun, OKLoser, Ouchies, N.H.I.E., Attention, 97, Balut, Need to Know, Masc, Streets, Agora Hills, Ain’t Shit, WYM Freestyle, Urrrge!!!!!!!!!!, Paint the Town Red, Wet Vagina,

UK’s party crowd switch to warehouse and home parties
Smaller clubs are losing out to mega raves, private events and even live streams, say music industry insiders.
The pandemic also changed peoples habits, and there is now a large group of young people who would rather stay in. “Instead of having club experiences, it was online, and people got used to live streaming at home,” says Paul Rose, DJ and host of the Not A Diving Podcast.
Many people feel drinks are far too expensive in establishments now; “they have pushed people beyond their limits in trying to have punters pay extortionate energy bills.
Even a six-pack from Tescos is creeping up to the prices pints were immediately before the pandemic.
Just vape weed instead now; it is cheaper, more chill, and you don’t end up in a gutter near a taxi rank with half-eaten kabab wrap. The entire nighttime economy is in a state of perpetual collapse.”-Top_To_Back, reddit.
There isn’t enough draw for clubs these days. The club scene is dead for a reason.
Music is hit and misses, emphasis on miss; drinks are far too expensive, venues are crumbling garbage piles with sticky floors and nowhere to socialize; the “third place” aspect of it is, as far as I can tell, non-existent, and of course the ever presence of dodgy wankers starting fights, or trying to finger you behind the bins.
Kids and young adults are broke, they don’t like alcohol as much as they used to, and they have better things to engage in. If they want to socialize, dance, get drunk, and have fun, the club should be the place to do that, but it just isn’t… it’s such a subpar experience that it’s not worth it. – Alundra828, reddit.
