So a town in Germany has had the unfortunate luck of being named something Lipps Inc didn’t have the guts to say when singing ‘Funkytown’. But this town hasn’t taken it badly, in fact they seem to have embraced the bonking spirit that will haunt, or bonk, their town forever.
The German town known as Poppenhausen, translated into English as Bonktown, is now playing home to horny couples who are looking for a dirty weekend getaway after town officials voted to embrace their town’s new translated name. If only London translated to ‘everyone’s rich and gets free sex all the time town’ then Boris Johnson would love that I’m sure.
Officials in Bonktown (still sounds funny) had this to say: “‘We had lots of people coming to the town because of its name, because in German ‘Poppen’ is a slang word for making love,’ explained a town hall spokesman. In the end we decided if you can’t ban them, at least make them comfortable.’
There is said to be heart shaped seats, a stroll on a one mile long love lane and a notice on how to say ‘I love you’ in 100 different languages. Aww, and we here at BBM just thought that Bonktown would’ve been some massive festival orgy right?
