Black Metal fans look pretty annoyed at the best of times, but the lead singer of Darkthrone is more angry than usual after inadvertently getting himself elected onto his local council in Norway – by posing for a photo with his cat.
Fenriz, as he’s known, only ran for the position in the town of Kolbotn after agreeing to be on a reserve list for potential councillors. As a campaign poster, he put a picture of himself holding his cat with the words “please don’t vote for me” on social media as a prank. No it’s not exactly the joke of the decade but then how many hilarious black metal fans do you know?
Alas, the photo struck a chord with fans and he was elected – not that he’s happy about his unlikely win. “I have to go sit there and feel stupid among the straight people,” he moaned.
