The Premier League finally swung into full flow over the past couple of weeks with some of the big guns due to test themselves out against each other.
Super Sunday in week 5 was a cracker with Liverpool vs Man United the pick of the bunch, given added incentive after the Hillsborough revelations the week before. United though spoiled the party as they ran out 2-1 winners in a bad tempered game, with a van Persie penalty 7 minutes from time sealing the deal.
Later in the day, Arsenal held Champions Man City to a 1-1 draw at Eastlands to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
However, they were to come unstuck in the London derby against European champs Chelsea. Nando Torres scored his first ever goal at the Emirates before Mata scored direct from a free kick to give the Blues a 2-1 win after Gervinho had equalised. Chelsea had also beaten Stoke 1-0 the week before and stay top of the league after 6 matches.
Spurs ended their quite frankly embarrassing 23-year wait for a win at Old Trafford as they won 3-2 in a wonderful game against Man United. Two Spurs goals either side of a Kagawa strike in the space of 3 minutes made for a frantic final 30 minutes, but Spurs are looking good under Villas-Boas now after a shaky start.
Two other less fancied teams who are enjoying a fruitful start to their seasons are Everton and West Brom.
The Toffees won twice to stay second after 3-0 wins away to Swansea and a 3-1 win at home to Southampton, and are undoubtedly the team to watch at the moment.
And West Brom were unlucky not to hang on for the win in the Birmingham derby, as Darren Bent salvaged a late 1-1 draw for Aston Villa. But a 1-0 win over Reading the week previously moves Albion up to 5th.
At the bottom, Southampton finally won a game after an excellent 4-1 win at home to Villa, but Norwich, Reading and QPR remain in the relegation places as they all look for their first 3 points of the season.
