Move over Beauty and the Beast, because this year’s most romantic story is unfolding in England right now with the news that Britain’s most-married man (currently in the process of divorcing his eighth wife) has finally found true love at the age of 68 with a 27-year-old single mum from the Philippines.
Some cynical sorts are claiming Cristel Marquez is only interested in getting a visa by marrying old romantic Ron Sheppard, but he insists that’s not the case. Unlucky-in-love Ron has been alone for a year, since being dumped by Weng, 36, after 12 years of marriage, and speaks to Cristel on Skype every day.
“I hate to be alone,” he said. “Cristal’s coming over here in about 10 days’ time. I can’t wait. It makes my day, just speaking to her.”
He claims £17,000-a-year in state pensions and benefits, but reckons he will save the state a fortune by choosing a bride 40 years younger than him because she’ll look after him for free in his old age. The fact that he’ll get blow jobs as well is just a bonus.
