Red faces all round as Edin Dzeko gets himself sent off for pulling down an opponent’s shorts.
Celebrating with your own fans. A teensy bit of backchat. Falling to the ground after a whisper of contact. You can get booked for pretty much anything in football these days. Just ask ex-Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina captain was on international duty against Greece in a World Cup qualifier when he found himself in a tight spot. Falling to the ground after a rough challenge from Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Dzeko grabbed the ball and tried to shield himself.
After a quick skirmish Dzeko cheekily pulled down the Greek’s shorts. The referee failed to see the funny side and, already on a booking, Dzeko was shown a second yellow while Papasastathopoulos was shown a straight red. Red faces all round.
