A swearing parrot’s reign of rudeness has been cut short after the foul-mouthed feathered friend was arrested by police for verbally abusing an old woman.
Hariyal the parrot pecked off more than he could chew when he unleashed a four-letter rant at an 85-year-old woman in the Indian town of Rajura in the state of Maharashtra last month. The problem is it wasn’t the first time she’d been the target of his avian obscenities, in fact she was the step-mother to the parrot’s owner, Suresh Sakharkar.
“On seeing me, the parrot uses bad language and foul words,” said stepmum Janabai. “That is why I have complained thrice in the last two years. Police called me, Suresh and the parrot to the police station. Police should investigate and seize the parrot.” And that’s precisely what authorities did.
Police decided to call in all three parties, including the parrot, but apparently they couldn’t make him squawk and he was sent back home.
