Looks like we have an early contender for biggest religious idiot of the year – and as you can imagine, that’s quite a wide field to choose from.
Bible-bashing pastor Matthew Makela has made quite the name for himself as an anti-gay advocate in the US and has previously called homosexuality “sinful” and likened it to alcoholism. But his hard-line reputation took a little bit of a knock last month when it was revealed he’d been sharing photos of himself on Grindr and claiming he “likes to cuddle naked”. Aww, he sounds so sweet. Who would have thought he was a very confused preacher of intolerance?
The photos surfaced on gay and lesbian site Queerty after being posted by an anonymous Grindr user. Closet-loving Makela confirmed they were authentic before stepping down from his position at St Johns Lutheran Church and School in Michigan. Idiot.
