The last 16 of the UEFA Champions League draw has thrown up some intriguing ties for the English sides this year and will sure to produce some tasty moments.
Firstly, is Manchester City vs Barcelona and the opportunity for a certain Count Suarez to mark his return to English football after a few months away from English Premier League, his career is yet to take off for the Catalans but will be eager to sink his teeth into an English side again after gnawing on Branislav Ivanović in a clash against Chelsea and taking a chunk out of Giorgio Chiellini con carne at the world cup. For Khaldoon Al Mubarak, progress would represent more money in the coffers and more prawn sandwiches in the boardroom. After all there is more at stake than an Argentinian showdown between senor Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero and this could emerge into a mouth-watering spectacle. Let’s hope Luis does not take that literally.
Secondly, Arsenal vs Monaco could be described has a Thierry Henry tribute match. In the way it is a match between two of his former clubs and the Gunners will certainly be hoping for a bit of a va va voom and not meaning a Renault car commercial, when they take on the French side. Arsene Wenger or otherwise known has a ‘whinger’ to some of the Arsenal faithful will be hopeful that Alexis Sánchez keeps up his red hot Chilean form to fire the Gunners into the quarter-finals.
Lastly, represents the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho and Chelsea’s clash against PSG. It could also be a clash against Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who not so long ago replicated his own phrase with ‘you don’t mess with the Zlatan’ in a clash on the international scene. What is for sure is that there is an Eden Hazard waiting to happen if you give Zlatan a shove or push him too far, as David Alaba found out.
