Being British, the worst thing we do when we get poor service at a restaurant is tut quietly to our friends. Even then, if the waitress has decent cleavage we’ll still leave a generous tip. It’s why we dine almost exclusively at Hooters.
In America, though, they’re a little more direct with their complaints – as a waitress in Indiana discovered this month when she went to pick up a $2 tip left by a teenager, and found it was covered in poo. Police say the 17-year-old suspect was part of a group of American football players from a nearby university who had been “causing problems” at the Brothers Bar and Grill.
He was promptly arrested by police at the scene and charged with “battery with bodily waste” – which, to us, makes it sound like he hit her with a bat made from his own crap. Bet they never showed you how to make one of those on Blue Peter.
